RhymeZone is a free rhyming dictionary and thesaurus that answers in about the time it takes to blink. Type a word, get perfect rhymes, near rhymes, synonyms, antonyms, homophones and related words, all grouped by syllable count. It has looked exactly the same for years, it has no onboarding flow, and it is better than almost every tool built since.

What is RhymeZone?

RhymeZone is a word lookup engine that refuses to be only one thing. Most sites pick a lane, rhyming dictionary, or thesaurus, or definitions. RhymeZone puts every lane on the same page and lets you jump between them with one click.

What can you do on RhymeZone?

Name things. Products, bands, pets, Wi-Fi networks. Related words plus phrase rhymes is a shockingly effective brainstorming machine.

Tips to get the most out of it

1. Learn the ? shortcut. Typing ocean? skips the rhymes and lands you on synonyms and related words. It turns a two-click lookup into one.
2. Filter by syllables before you scroll. The syllable grouping is the whole point. Decide how many beats you need, then only read that block. Ignore the rest.
3. Turn phrases on. There is an “include phrases” setting. Switch it to yes and multi-word rhymes appear, this is how you rhyme with words that supposedly have no rhyme.
4. Try descriptive words before you write any description. Stuck on a product page or a piece of fiction? Search the noun, read the adjective list, and steal the one that surprises you.
5. Use phrase rhymes for hooks. Rhyming a whole phrase rather than a single word is what makes a chorus land. Most people never open this tab.
6. Bookmark it as a browser search keyword. Two keystrokes to a rhyme is different from five, and at speed that difference is the whole workflow.
